R. DERBOUKA

    Started painting in 1970. Sporadically produced about 20 works until 2000. Started wood - wood-steel sculptures in 2000, and completed 20 intermediate size pieces to the end of 2007.

R. Derbouka has exhibited at Thunder Bay Art Gallery and has entered juried competitions and won 1 of 3 awards.  

Artist Statement: Ideas, feelings images, arrive from the world around me - from the conscious and unconscious assimilation of information. It seems as though I do not know the person who does these pieces - but I am pleased to receive credit. I am the happy victim of the creative process trying to believe that my arrogance in this pursuit does more than produce "aesthetic" pollution. I banter on because I can't stop and because those who have seen these pieces have encouraged me to continue.
